Sophomore Setter Claims Beavers' First Postseason National Award

LEXINGTON, Ky.—After helping lead the Babson College women's volleyball team to the NCAA Tournament Potsdam Regional final over the weekend, sophomore setter Elizabeth Cameron (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) became the first player in program history to earn American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America honorable mention honors on Tuesday.An All-New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) first-team and AVCA All-New England selection, Cameron averaged 9.30 assists, 2.18 digs, 1.00 kills and 0.50 blocks per set over 31 matches this fall. She became the program's single-season leader with 60 assists in Saturday's five-set second round NCAA Tournament win over Clarkson, and then became the first player in school history to surpass 1,000 assists in a season on Sunday in the regional final against Ithaca.Cameron, who was named to the Potsdam Regional All-Tournament Team, was at her best in five postseason matches averaging 10.09 assists, 2.73 digs and 0.59 blocks per set. In addition to recording 30 or more assists 22 times, she finished with 10 or more digs on 11 occasions this season.Cameron will enter her junior season next fall ranked fourth in Babson history with 1,861 career assists.The Beavers wrapped up the 2017 campaign with an overall record of 22-10.
